Andres G. Perez
Founder and CEO
"The key element of the Positive Discipline philosophy is connection before correction."
WE PUT CHILDREN FIRST
By focusing on solutions that are neither punitive nor permissive, we help you help children feel a sense of connection, belonging, and significance.
USE A TEAM APPROACH
Between your at-home or in-class observations and our time-proven techniques, we make safe and edifying possibilities for children.
AND BUILD COMMUNITIES
With over a decade of experience teaching parenting classes in the San Francisco Bay Area and surrounding communities, Andres Perez has reached over 8,000 parents and has impacted countless more children.
In early 2008 Organizacion Edificando Vidas was founded by Andres with a mission to specifically target the Latino community, though OEV does not only serve this community as other groups have benefited from our workshops since then.
Using the curriculum Andres created while working with the YWCA of Santa Clara as an independent contractor, OEV began reaching out to schools in the area. He received positive feedback from the participants and was interested in expanding to a more experiential-based curriculum. Later that same year, he found the Positive Discipline approach and began attending trainings and became a certified positive discipline trainer.
Resonating soundly with his beliefs that everybody is deserving of dignity and respect and based on the theories of Alfred Adler, an Austrian psychologist from the early 20th century, he immediately started integrating Positive Discipline principles and experiential activities into his teachings, making the classes more interactive and dynamic.
The participants reported immediate and profound effects on family life as they implemented these approaches and Andres decided to continue with this method.
Through a variety of classes, Organizacion Edificando Vidas (OEV) provides Positive Discipline education to parents, educators and caregivers to help children, from preschool through high school ages. OEV currently works with several school districts and community organizations. Our parenting workshops in Spanish and English are usually offered through partnerships with medical services and school districts.
